We warmly invite your organization to join our upcoming Advocacy Training Session conducted via Zoom.

As Tamil organizations continue to champion crucial human rights issues on the global stage, having dedicated, well-trained advocacy workers is more important than ever. This intensive session is designed to equip your representatives with the practical knowledge and strategic insights needed to effectively navigate and engage with the United Nations Human Rights mechanisms.

Due to the interactive and intensive nature of this training, space is strictly limited to 15 participants, ensuring personalized attention and focused preparation.

Session Background & Purpose

This training is strategically timed to build capacity for upcoming international engagements. Our primary goal is to prepare dedicated advocates for the September 2026 (63rd session) and March 2027 (64th session) of the United Nations Human Rights Council (UNHRC).

Topics Covered During the Session:
1. The Three Pillars of the Human Rights Mechanisms: An in-depth look at the Council, Universal Periodic Review (UPR), and Special Procedures.
2. The Human Rights Council: Understanding its core functions, structure, and mandate.
3. Practical Engagement: Step-by-step guidance on how NGOs and civil society can actively engage with the HRC, UPR, and Special Procedures to amplify their cause.

Participant Pre-requisites & Qualifications

To ensure the effectiveness and long-term impact of this training, all registrants must meet the following criteria before being accepted:
• Language Fluency: Must be fluent in at least one UN Official Language (English, French, or Spanish). Note: The core session will be delivered mainly in English.
• Willingness to Learn: A strong, proactive desire to absorb international legal and advocacy frameworks.
• Continued Commitment: Must commit to engaging with our advocacy efforts for at least two subsequent UNHRC sessions.
• Monthly Updates: Must commit to attending our ongoing Monthly Advocacy Update Zoom sessions to keep strategies aligned and up-to-date.
